Is Slope an Issue?
Making allowance for sloping ground. Assuming the gate posts in the diagram below are seen from a profile position and the arrows are pointing towards your property, does the ground slope up towards the property or down towards the property or is the ground flat?
Remembering that the gate may be as wide as the driveway entrance in the instance of a single gate design, check the lay of the ground through an estimated sweep of the gates length checking for a slope upward or down and away from the gates base in the direction of the swing; e.g., if the gate is to swing in towards the property, does the ground slope upwards toward the property possibly causing an obstruction to the opening of the gate?
*
Ground slopes up towards property
Ground slopes down towards property
Ground is flat
Please note in swing gate measuring you need to compensate for slope either by having the gate swing in the direction away from the slope or through decreasing the height of the gate to compensate for the slope.
*
There isn't a slope to consider.
I have determined the slope and adjusted the direction of the swing or the height of the gate.
There is a slope, but I am not confident in my measurements. Please contact me to work this out.
I am uploading images to give you a greater understanding of my project.
